Brigitte Wolf - Stained Glass

Original Stained Glass by Brigitte Wolf

A long time resident of Huron County, I have managed my business REFLECTIONS GLASS
STUDIO for over 30 years. My work is primarily flat glass, intended for private and public
spaces, enhanced with sandblasting and glass painting.

Traditional stained glass achieves much of its effect through the transmission of light. The mood
of a piece changes with the light coming through it. It is this mysterious element which is the
most challenging for an artist to learn to work with. Marc Chagal, painter and glass artist, once
said “Colour carries the emotional content of a work of art.”

Colours and forms in nature will suggest themes. Geometric patterning is endlessly inspiring.
Traditional elements creep in, such as quilt designs, early Celtic art, architecture. Moving in a
more abstract direction, I started a series entitled “Jazz Variations”. The name derives from the
improvisational nature of Jazz music which nonetheless achieves its own structure.

In my work there is a desire to balance a traditional visual vocabulary with a modern sensibility,
reflecting my belief in the universal nature of patterns.

I welcome meeting new clients and enjoy helping them find creative ways to bring beauty into
their environment through glass. For more information about custom work, and to view my
portfolio, visit my website.

I am pleased to be part of the artist community here at the Goderich Co-op Gallery. My work is
also available through the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo.
